Well that was not a bad performance was it.

From start to finish that was a very impressive match from everyone in a red shirt.

The new signings are bedding in well and it was great for two of them to get their first goals of hopefully many for the club.

Henderson was very good on the right constantly wanting the ball and rarely giving away possession.

Adam in the centre was superb and most of the attacks came from him getting the ball on the halfway line and passing a quality ball either out wide or over the defence for the strikers to run onto.

However good the new signings were it was a couple of players from last season who also need special mention for today.

Suarez and Lucas were immense with the former a constant threat and the latter stopping everything Bolton could try and throw at us.

The game itself reminded me much of the Sunderland performance in that we were playing some superb football and must have been wondering how we went into the half time only leading by a single goal.

The goal itself come about by one of the best passes you will see all season from Suarez onto Downing who was unlucky not score himself but luckily Henderson was on hand to finish with a superb top corner curler on his left foot.

Thankfully unlike the Sunderland match we were even more impressive in the second half with the movement of Suarez and Kuyt causing chaos in the Bolton back line and when you had the quality from Downing and Henderson on the flanks then it meant it was only a matter of time before we added a second and i must admit when we added a third almost straight away i had visions of a 4-5 goal haul.

When Skrtel came on i wasn’t filled with confidence as his last performance there was a disaster against Middlesbrough but thankfully the player who ran him ragged that day was playing on the left for us in Stewart Downing.

This match Skrtel performed very well and scored a cracking header from a quality Adam corner.

Adam himself showed he has a right foot and he capped an impressive match with a quality low finish into the bottom right of the Bolton goal which you could tell by his reaction was a special moment for him.

Shame at the end regarding Carraghers mistake and in all fairness the defence deserved a clean sheet because they until then had handled a very physical Bolton team quite easily.

I think most would have taken a 3-1 victory but the margin could have been greater if it wasn’t for some baffling decisions by the ref who somehow managed to miss a blatant back pass.

The rule is simple, if a player passes it back to the keeper he can not pick it up yet that is exactly what Bolton did but crazily neither the ref or the linesman noticed this.

Suarez also was pulled down by Zat Knight who grabbed the striker foot but once again this was missed although in all fairness this was not that easy a foul to spot but none the less a penalty.

It’s way too early to get carried away and our next two matches against Stoke and Tottenham will test us but no-one will relish playing us at the moment and hopefully we can keep the momentum going after the international break.
