Well that was not a bad performance was it.

From start to finish that was a very impressive match from everyone in a red shirt.

The new signings are bedding in well and it was great for two of them to get their first goals of hopefully many for the club.

Henderson was very good on the right constantly wanting the ball and rarely giving away possession.

Adam in the centre was superb and most of the attacks came from him getting the ball on the halfway line and passing a quality ball either out wide or over the defence for the strikers to run onto.

However good the new signings were it was a couple of players from last season who also need special mention for today.

Suarez and Lucas were immense with the former a constant threat and the latter stopping everything Bolton could try and throw at us.

The game itself reminded me much of the Sunderland performance in that we were playing some superb football and must have been wondering how we went into the half time only leading by a single goal.

The goal itself come about by one of the best passes you will see all season from Suarez onto Downing who was unlucky not score himself but luckily Henderson was on hand to finish with a superb top corner curler on his left foot.

Thankfully unlike the Sunderland match we were even more impressive in the second half with the movement of Suarez and Kuyt causing chaos in the Bolton back line and when you had the quality from Downing and Henderson on the flanks then it meant it was only a matter of time before we added a second and i must admit when we added a third almost straight away i had visions of a 4-5 goal haul.

When Skrtel came on i wasn’t filled with confidence as his last performance there was a disaster against Middlesbrough but thankfully the player who ran him ragged that day was playing on the left for us in Stewart Downing.

This match Skrtel performed very well and scored a cracking header from a quality Adam corner.

Adam himself showed he has a right foot and he capped an impressive match with a quality low finish into the bottom right of the Bolton goal which you could tell by his reaction was a special moment for him.

Shame at the end regarding Carraghers mistake and in all fairness the defence deserved a clean sheet because they until then had handled a very physical Bolton team quite easily.

I think most would have taken a 3-1 victory but the margin could have been greater if it wasn’t for some baffling decisions by the ref who somehow managed to miss a blatant back pass.

The rule is simple, if a player passes it back to the keeper he can not pick it up yet that is exactly what Bolton did but crazily neither the ref or the linesman noticed this.

Suarez also was pulled down by Zat Knight who grabbed the striker foot but once again this was missed although in all fairness this was not that easy a foul to spot but none the less a penalty.

It’s way too early to get carried away and our next two matches against Stoke and Tottenham will test us but no-one will relish playing us at the moment and hopefully we can keep the momentum going after the international break.

When the fixture list was released i expected us to get four points from the opening two matches.

This has turned out to be the case but after the draw against Sunderland it made the match against Arsenal have extra importance.

Even this early in the season every point counts and i see Arsenal as being our main rivals for fourth so to lose ground this early was not ideal.

The build up to the match was short of nothing i had experienced before playing Arsenal away in that people thought we would steam roller them and that they wouldn’t be a better time to play Arsenal but instead of making me feel confident this just made me more nervous.

The nerves certainly kicked in when the teams were announced and Arsenal whilst weakened through injuries and suspension still had the likes of Nasri, Van Persie, Walcott, Arshavin and Ramsey in the team whilst we had Suarez on the bench.

The first half was hardly a classic but we matched them in all departments and were showing some nice passing moves and if anything we were out passing Arsenal.

The only 2 things of note really from the first half was Carroll forcing a quality save from the Arsenal keeper and the impressive Frimpong getting booked by stopping Henderson taking a quick throw in which would have released Dirk Kuyt.

Van Persie had been quiet and Walcott very ineffective against the immense Enrique whilst Nasri was only showing glimpses of what he could offer.

The less said about Arshavin the better.

The second half up until the 70th minute was more or less a carbon copy of the first in that both teams would try attacking but not really able to create any clear cut chances.

It all changed though when Frimpong showed that whilst he may be a talented player he needs a lot of maturing to do.

The challenge on Lucas was terrible and could have easily been a straight red but Martin Atkinson gave him a second yellow which means he will only be banned for 1 match rather then 3.

At this point Dalglish had already decided to change the personnel and Suarez was preparing to come on before the sending off but whether the manager would have decided to throw Meireles on as well who knows but both players played a major part in changing the outcome of the result.

Arsenal i felt were starting to get on top before the sending off but as soon as the game restarted it seemed like only one way traffic.

Suarez was supposed to have told Dalglish he doesn’t mind playing on the left when he was informed that he had been ‘left out’ so you can imagine how he was desperate to get on the pitch and both he and Meireles combined superbly for the first goal which whilst a lucky own goal it came about thanks to good interplay from the two Liverpool subs.

The second goal was something you associate Arsenal with as Liverpool attacked Arsenal and two quick passes resulted in Suarez stroking the ball into an empty net.

A result which has long been coming and a massive lift for the players and fans as we carry on improving under Dalglish.

At the moment there is an e-petition available for not only Liverpool fans but for fans of justice to sign and make a stand.

The petition is regarding the government trying to block the release of documents regarding the tragedy of 1989 when 96 Liverpool fans lost their lifes watching the team they loved.

If there was nothing in those papers to hide then they quite simply would be released but the fact that the government are trying to block them indicates to me that something within those papers shifts the blame from the Liverpool supporters onto either the South Yorkshire police or the government itself.

The e-petition can be found at the link below and please i hope everyone signs this and we can stop the government trying to block the release of the papers.

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/2199 - check your emails once signed as you need to validate your signature.

If you do not receive a validation email then check your spam folder or fill the petition in again as it takes less then 2 minutes to do.

This e-petition is for UK residents only.

For more information regarding the events of Hillsbrough they are covered far better then me at places such as http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/index.shtml.

Anyone who visits my blog should visit that website as the information regarding the disaster and ways in which you can help can all be found there.

Over the years i have had various fans from other clubs ask me why as a Liverpool fan we hate The Sun newspaper and the answer is quite simple ‘they print lies’.

After that fateful day the families of the Liverpool fans were in shock and were grieving the loss of their loved ones yet they had to read lies from The Sun newspaper claiming that the Liverpool fans were drunk and were robbing from the dead.

These claims were unfounded and had no truth in them whatsoever yet not once since have The Sun apologised.

The problem is the reputation of Liverpool FC and its fans had been tarnished due to the Heysel stadium disaster so the general public believed what they were reading and even to this day people do not know the truth of what happened and still believe that article The Sun printed.

We are only a couple of months aways from the first year anniversary of FSG (at the time under the name of NESV) buying the club and potentially stopping the club going into administration so what do we think of these opening months under new ownership.

For me FSG were an unknown and i will admit up until them buying the club i had never heard of John W Henry or Tom Werner.

Thanks to the power of Google and 24 hour news coverage i found they were the owners of the Red Sox baseball team and had turned around the fortunes of the team making them from also rans to world champions.

I use the term ‘world champions’ but in reality i don’t think many teams from around the world actually enter the baseball competition but it sounds good.

What i have learnt about FSG from reading various Red Sox forums is that these owners want to be in first place and are prepared to make decisions which ultimately benefit the team rather then just individual gain.

Lets not kid ourselves here and think that John W Henry grow up in Quincy, Illinois kicking a football about dreaming of joining Bill Shankly’s Liverpool revolution and i would imagine that at the time the only reference ‘Liverpool’ had in the life of Mr Henry was that of the birthplace of The Beatles.

What attracted John W Henry and FSG to Liverpool was a business decision and the fact that the club had been criminally under performing from a marketing and merchandise point of view and the potential to increase the value of the club is massive.

Our recent pre-season trip to Asia showed you just how popular we are over that part of the world but it could be even better.

Getting Lebron James (thanks to google i found out who he is) involved with the club may well prove to be a master stroke as his profile whilst low in England is massive in Asia and the United States.

The club under the ownership of Moores and Parry was run as a joke and on a regular basis the club would keep very low stock of merchandise and would tender the contracts out to other companies for various ventures within the club who would be making money out of us rather then LFC itself actually profiting.

Thankfully that is now over and FSG will ‘milk’ the brand for everything its worth and whilst some would deem that as ‘not the Liverpool way’ for me it is why as a club we are miles behind in revenue to the likes of Man United due to our past philosophy of doing nothing and just thinking ‘it will be alright Rick will see to it’.

What FSG have started is the rebuilding of the club both on and off the pitch with Dalglish being well backed on the pitch and Ian Ayre allowed to improve matters off it.

The TV channel is improving (now has a red leather sofa) and with the increased profits due to the Standard Chartered sponsorship deal and Warrior potentially becoming the new kit designers we at least seem to be heading in the right direction.

Another thing which may seem trivial but FSG do like to have a presence at the club and when at the matches they do seem to be interested in what is happening on the pitch with John W Henry’s wife Linda Pizzuti declaring on Twitter she was learning the words to the Liverpool songs (doubt she will sing all the words to the Steve Gerrard, Gerrard he’s big and he’s, well you know the rest).

Under the past ownership it was clearly a chore to be at a game and without doubt there was an element of loathing between the owners and the fans which is never good for everyone at the club.

I think it was John W Henry himself who said that we shouldn’t judge them on their words but on their actions and so far only the stadium issue for me is the only worry but in all fairness the Liverpool council are not exactly helping matters in that department.

Well it was great to have Premiership football back on the agenda as i hate the summer without competitive football as it means i have to try and have a conversation with the missus.

It was always going to be a tough game against Sunderland and Steve Bruce as a superb record as a manager against Liverpool.

To be honest the way we started the match i thought we were going to batter them and when Suarez was fouled for the penalty after only a few minutes i expected the first of many goals during the game.

How Richardson stayed on after committing the foul is beyond me and only Dowd can think Suarez was not in a goal scoring opportunity.

If players are not going to get sent off for that then fair do i don’t have a problem with that but you know for full well that next weekend at least one player will be sent off for such a challenge.

I was surprised to see Suarez take the penalty especially with Charlie Adam on the pitch but no-one is perfect and at least he was determined to make up for the skyward shot.

During the first half we played some superb ‘pass and move’ football which the whole foundation of the club is built on.

Downing was impressing on his debut and and after Suarez had scored to make it 1-0 i expected another goal to follow shortly after.

We didn’t have that long to wait and around the halfway point of the first half Carroll scored a cracking goal only for it to be ruled out offside.

The way he controlled the ball turned and finished was that of a £35m striker and i was gutted for the lad to see the flag raised and the goal ruled out.

For me there is no denying that Carroll made contact with Ferdinand and did nudge him but the contact was minimal and like it was pointed out on Goals on Sunday if refs are going to deem that as a foul then Shearer would not have scored a goal in his career.

When the half time whistle went i was gutted it was only 1-0 but in all fairness i hadn’t really seen that much from Sunderland to think that they could get back into the match and i expected a comfortable second half.

This was not to be and however good we were in the first half we was equally as bad in the second and a draw whilst a fair result come the end of the match almost felt like a defeat.

The Sunderland goal was a culmination of errors and whilst Flanagan should naivety by stepping forward as the cross was about to be taken we had 3 players to stop the cross even getting over in the first place.

Its the first game of the season though and we witnessed many things to take positives from.

The debut of both Downing and Enrique caught my eye plus the quality of football we played in the first half is cause for optimism.

Tough game at the weekend against Arsenal but one i believe we are more then capable of winning.

Its been a while since i wrote a post on my blog so felt it best if i deleted the past posts as it was mainly surrounding the issues at the time which were engulfing the club such as the political battles and our ongoing march to oblivion.

Its a period in the clubs history i would rather not dwell and want to forget so the best thing for me was to delete the blog posts and start again but this time with renewed optimism.

Under the ownership of FSG i believe the club can return to past glories and going from what i have read on various Red Sox forums these new owners are winners and are prepared to make the effort to be in first place rather then content with purely finishing in the Champions League places.

With Kenny Dalglish back at the helm who also shares this philosphy i can only see the club going one way and that is upwards. It will be a long road back and anyone who thinks that we can achieve this in just one season is going to be disappointed as there is a hell of a lot of work involved with getting Liverpool back to the summit but at least we have people in the positions of power at club who want to achieve this.
